Indigo Bocho is a Japanese style kitchen knife inspired by the concept of “Artisanal Collaboration”. In order to produce the highest quality Made-in-Japan products, we assembled a unique team of craftsmen with exceptional skills who have never thought they would work alongside each other since they are from completely different fields of expertise.
MADE IN JAPAN
The Sakai Knife Shop craftsmen, with their skills that has been around for over 600 years, and craftsmen from Tokushima, with their traditional and special indigo dyeing skills on natural wood. Not only is our Indigo Bocho unique and aesthetically pleasing, but it also features various functionalities.
The handle material is a strong decay resistant wood called Hiba (Japanese cypress). On the top of Hiba, we dye with natural Japanese indigo which is said to have anti-bacteria and anti-pest proprieties. To prevent indigo to come out from Hiba, we apply water proof coating on top therefore beautiful indigo stays on the wood. Hiba + indigo + water proof coating make the product very hygiene and special.
